Although Chinese medicine is conceived as alternative medicine outside of the Far East it is still considered the primary medical system in China, and has been for thousands of years. Chinese medicine and it’s non-invasive and natural healing is becoming progressively popular in the Western world as opposed to the synthetically produced drugs of modern medicine.

Said to have been practised for 5,000 years the history of Chinese medicine is anything but lucid. Considered to be 2,000 years old, Hung-Di Nei-Jing (Cannon of Internal Medicine) is thought to be the first written document concerning Chinese medicine and is attributed to the Yellow Emperor, but dates and author are still far from clear.

Herbal medicine and acupuncture, the procedures of Chinese medicine that most people are familiar with, are the primary branches with other methods such as food therapy, qi gong and massage playing a secondary role. But few know that restoring harmony and regaining balance rather than treating the disease is the aim of all traditional treatment.

The main reason for any illness or disease is lack of harmony. The philosophy of Chinese medicine is the restoration of the body’s harmony and balance and this holistic view of medicine maintains that a well-balanced person is resistant to most everyday illness and disease. Modern medicine on the other hand treats bacteria and viruses directly by the use antibiotics and vaccines.

The curricula of an increasing number of medical schools are including classes on alternative medicine even while a contentious relationship still exists between Chinese medicine and modern medicine. Chinese medicine is more likely to be viewed with distrust by older Western doctors.

Even though, the techniques are of value in the west. In fact, drug companies have acknowledged the value of traditional medicines and teams of scientists in many parts of the world are employed to accumulate knowledge from traditional medical practitioners. In addition, many Western hospitals and increasing numbers of clinics now offer T’ai Chi Ch’uan or qigong classes as part of their inpatient and health programs.

Not considered as alternative medicine by over three quarters of the world’s population, Chinese medicine excels in the areas of prevention of physical and emotional illnesses. For centuries it has been regarded as form of non-intrusive, remedial, risk free treatment.

Modern medicines increasing reliance on synthetic drugs have influenced many people to alter their attitude towards Chinese medicine and many are finding satisfaction in this branch of alternative medicine. Increasingly people are maintaining their health at optimum levels by having regular treatments and are applying Chinese medicine as a first option instead of a last resort.

If you are suffering from hemorrhoids, chances are you are also probably looking for a safe and effective way to treat them. Hemorrhoid medication is one solution you may want to consider. By being knowledgable about what is one the market, you will be best able to choose the best method to help relieve the symptoms. This will stop the blood vessels from bleeding, swelling and causing irritation.

Internal hemorrhoids are blood vessels that form in the rectum and anal area. Bleeding will be the first sign of internal hemorrhoids. If more severe, the bleeding will be accompanied by tissue that moves outside of the anus area. There are several treatment options available for internal hemorrhoids. If uncomfortable using home remedies for your internal hemorrhoids, there are certain medications that will help.

Astringents are one type of medication commonly used for internal Hemorrhoids. Zinc, Oxide, Calamine, and Hamamelis water belong to the astringent category. Purchased over the counter, they are known to decrease the irritation and swelling in the area. The astringent causes clumping of the protein under the cell surface where the hemorrhoids are. A thin layer then forms over the anal tissue that protects the area from becoming reinfected or reirritated. This can help alleviate the burning and itching sensations associated with hemorrhoids.

Another of the medications approved for treating internal Hemorrhoids is called protectants. Medications in this category include mineral oil, cocoa butter, hard fat, aluminum hydroxide gel, glycerin, kaolin, lanolin, white petrolatum, and topical starch. Protectants also move into the irritated area and creating a protective layer over the skin. As a result, hemorrhoid inflammation will decrease.

The third type of available medication are the vasoconstrictors. The two major medications in the vasoconstrictor category are phenylephrine hydrochloride and ephedrine sulfate. These work by constricting the blood vessels, eventually causing dilated veins to be return to normal size. With these medications, you will notice quick relief of irritation and itching. Prior to taking this particular type of medication, you will want to ensure that you do not have any conditions that have been known to cause a negative reaction in the body.

The FDA has approved all of the above medications for treatment of internal hemorrhoids. If you are having problems with hemorrhoid-related bleeding, irritation or discomfort, these medications may offer relief. As with all medicines, before taking any of these, you should read the accompanying inserts to consider your history and avoid having side effects from the medication.

One of the most prevalent and serious forms of plastic surgery or cosmetic surgery involves burn victims. Since burn injuries are highly prevalent and can lead to deformities of various kinds, understanding how burn injuries are treated is important to get an idea of what kind of expectations are reasonable as well as how the surgeon and patient relationship differs from most other types of surgery.

Burn Surgery is surgery meant to reconstruct the body and its functions after a burn injury. Burn injuries occur during all types of accidents involving fire or any sort of extremely hot substance. After an individual is burned during an accident, major deformities and disfigurements can occur which require reconstructive Burn Surgery to alter the appearance and functionality of the body and its structures. Most forms of surgery require that skin grafts be performed, which is moving skin from unburned portions of the body to burned areas. The skin is then attached to the burn site and healing ensues. Each patient’s healing results are different and so the results of each graft cannot be 100% predicted. Typically though, those who were in good health prior to a burn have a higher success rate as far as healing time and results. Those who were smokers, in poor health, with poor nutrition, having any sort of autoimmune disease, etc. are less likely to see favorable healing times or results.

When it comes to Burn Surgery, having realistic and positive expectations is the number one most important part of surgery. Since the results vary greatly from person to person, no plastic surgeon can guarantee that any one way of handling the burn will work out to the patient’s satisfaction. If a burn is particularly invasive and there has been extensive damage to the skin and functionality of muscles or tendons, a complete recovery to post-burn status is not generally very optimistic. What Burn Surgery is generally capable of depends on the patient and the burn. There is no really accurate way to deduce how effective surgery will be prior to undergoing treatment. With this in mind, it is a good idea to understand treatment options as fully as possible

Certain Burn Surgery treatments require that the epidermis and partial dermis layers of the skin be removed and placed over the burn site. Others require that both the entire epidermis and dermis be removed. There are other treatment options such as skin flap treatments and tissue expansion. Both treatments involve moving skin from one area of the body to another, as well as helping the body to grow new skin from an area which has been operated on. Since the types of procedures available are rather complex, it is a good idea to sit with a trusted surgeon and speak frankly about what options will work best. Furthermore, understanding that a considerable amount of recovery time is necessary is important so that the patient is fully committed to their treatment and their care. This is an important part of the mental and emotional wellbeing which is necessary if Burn Surgery is to be performed successfully.

The term birthmark encloses lots of varieties of vascular and pigmented skin conditions. The prevalence of these conditions is available during early stages in life. These marks may be countenanced all over the human body. These terms can also involve some conditions called as post-wine stains which give an indication of red vascular birthmarks as well as other colors. They may also compose of melanin which is a skin pigment.

Till the last ten years important treatments were not to be seen but recently advancements have been observed to be made in this regard. These have been rendered possible by way of lasers for which physicians leverage technology for utilization of removal or improvement of these birthmarks.

These lasers have a tendency to target abnormal vessels or pigment cells. All birthmarks can be lightened by the use of lasers which will have the effect of simply erasing them in entirety. Of course, these have chances of recurrence at some stage or the other.

The dimensions of the treatment may vary with the size of the birthmark. A small mark may be pursued by a few minutes of laser treatment but, bigger marks may require time consuming treatments. So much so, that multiple treatments may also have to be undergone for curing these syndromes.

Some stains can be taken care of by treatment during the few weeks of life with proper emission of laser responding to the treatment. These treatments can be prolonged throughout the life of the person without fail. The other marks may also be treated accordingly. The treatments can vary from time to time depending on the longevity as well as dimensions of the marks which undergo treatment. The laser treatment is very effective throughout the life of a person.

These treatments are not considered to be major surgeries. Some discomfort is witnessed during the earlier stages of treatment. Presently new contact cooling devices as well as stronger ones which involve themselves in spraying cold liquid on to the skin which is important for cooling down effect on this hot treatment. Some discomfort occurs initially but later on it gets under control.

No period of recuperation is suggested for removal of vascular and pigmented birthmarks. These marks are important for the purposes of combating their removals by way of a systematic treatment. You should be careful about oozing of blood and such circumstances. Some patients experience pain or minor discomfort during the course of and after the treatment.

Recurrence of port-wine-stains is very rare. About half of other birthmarks may surface again but, you should concentrate on targeting them with the process of erasing them with perfection. The reappearance of melanin is being targeted continuously. Melanin is not deeply embedded within the epidermis and is not affected but, may come for appearance later which may have to be combated by an effective application of laser treatment.

Thus, these birthmarks can be targeted for the purposes of proper erasing by application of liquid as a cooling down device as well as the ongoing laser treatment and application which should be controlling the reappearance of these marks.

The Shih Tzu show dog must have routine checks for parasites and a strict maintenance of inoculations. Being in the show ring presents more chances of being exposed to disease germs. It is imperative that the Shih Tzu show dog that has been traveling from show to show be kept separate from the home crew once returning home. This can be compared to the older sister or brother who goes to school and brings home the chicken pox to all younger brothers and sisters. Extra precautions should be taken by the Shih Tzu show dog kennel to prevent possible spread of disease germs to the entire kennel and/or any Shih Tzu puppies for sale present among them.

Three very serious diseases to which all dogs are susceptible are:

1. Distemper
2. Hepatitis
3. Leptospirosis

These diseases are serious because they are frequently fatal. Fortunately, there are effective inoculations against all three.

Fleas and ticks are present in almost all parts of the country during warm weather. They are easy to pick up and sometimes quite difficult to get rid of, especially in the case of a long-coated Shih Tzu. Fleas and ticks also are capable of causing a dog to become infested with worms and sometimes diseases.

The simple rule to follow is to consult the veterinarian whenever there is the least question concerning the health of a Shih Tzu show dog. This is especially true in the case of the various diseases of the skin or conditions that result in seasonal irritants. These problems need to be treated promptly in order to prevent a chronic condition leading to the ruin of a Shih Tzu show dog coat, but is also detrimental to the over-all health of the Shih Tzu.

Toy Dogs, which include the Shih Tzu, have physical problems that are peculiar to them. The Toy dogs also have a few advantages over other certain classes of dogs. Many of the special problems affecting Toy dogs are the direct result of having been bred down to their present size. Toy dogs are actually a creation of man mainly for an amusing house pet.
